Numi Flowering Tea and Friendship - a great combo

Numi Flowering Tea and Friendship - a great combo

Tuesday I had lunch with a dear friend.  I enjoy spending time with her and catching up.  We went to Cool Greens in Nichols Hills Plaza and when we had finished lunch, I invited her to my house.  She had not been here since I moved in and she wanted to see some of my projects.

We had a filling lunch, but knowing that she was a tea lover, I offered her a cup of tea.  She accepted and when I opened my tea stash I remembered that I had Numi flowering tea.  I thought, what a treat...so I took the little tea pot and tea ball from the cabinet and put the kettle on to boil.

She had never seen this kind of tea and quickly pulled up a bar stool and watched the fascinating process.

This is the box that this stuffed full of little tea balls.  They come in different shapes and sizes.  It is my understanding that they are all dried flowers infused with tea.  (I could be wrong.)  The little tea pot is specially made so that the blooming process is visible.

I popped the tea ball in the little pot and added boiling water...

and almost immediately it started to open.

This shows it from a different angle.

The first time I had this tea I was at a hotel in Santa Fe with my sister friend.  I wrote about it then...we wore our hats!  It was the day of  William and Kate's wedding...we felt a bit royal ourselves that day even though our hats were more Santa Fe than London!

If you are interested in finding out about their tea, check out the Numi website.

One of the things I've tried to do over the last year is make the most of my moments.  A simple cup of tea can be welcoming and soothing - but from time to time why not take it to the next level?

As we sipped our tea, we enjoyed each other, the conversation and the calming process.  mmmmmmm

Dear Grace,
I'm remembering in your blog sometime back your having a picture of your Christmas candle light that you plug in, and you had it on your desk, and was going to leave it out even thought it was after Christmas because of something that you had heard about always having light on as a reminder that Jesus is always with you and you are not alone.. I may not have said that exactly like you did, but I think it's close though. And I liked that so much. In fact, I have been looking for one, but I guess now it's the wrong time of the year and I can't find one, and I have seen them a lot, but not now!! But I was reading in my little prayer book, and I found something that made me think of you, so have to send it to you, here it is:

The Candle

Put a candle in your window
When the night is dark with storm.
It will welcome any stranger;
Keep friends and family warm.

When you see someone in sorrow;
Just let your candle shine
From your soul and from your window
It will be a cheerful sign.

Always place a candle
Where the world can see its light--
The glow will lift a sad heart
And brighten every night.

---Joan Stephen

I just loved this when I read it Grace, and I thought of you, and the candle on your desk.
